Saved once again! I'm a true believer that "Everything happens for a reason". So this is yet another chance for Lil to show her style and make it to the top. What song should Lil sing for Disco week to show her full potential? Submit your suggestions and "ENCOURAGING" comments below.
Hi this her cousin Pam...I suggest Donna Summers Last Chance.
ReplyDeleteLast Chance... Donna Summers... sang it girl
ReplyDeleteLIL..
ReplyDeleteI liked her since her first audience @ Kansas.
I was so so so scared that she was voted bottom coz its obvious that Simon and Randy were disappointed by LIL meaning they might not use the save.
Luckily, LIL got another shot next week, which I hope she'll nail it and stay. I remember that her "Be Without You" was a BOMB and am personally a big fan of Mary J Blige too... and I do agree that LIL has what it takes to be "LIL" herself like Mary J establishing her own class in the industry.
COME ON ~ ROCK the STAGE NEXT WEEK.
PLEASE... LIL, Adam and Allison are my final 3.
I cudn't see why Matt G is saved.
Yes, he's a great singer but he's not a star or I should say, he won't the show anyway, why go and save a person who doesn't hv a chance to win? It's only Kara who loves him. I dun see Simon thinking he should stay coz Simon looked being forced to use the save.
Put a Lil Rounds spin on "Ring My Bell"
ReplyDeleteLil, We love you girlfriend! 1) You held your head up for 2-3 weeks now and with disco week, it is time to shake off those haters and go ahead and do you a little Cheryl Lynn's Got To Be Real! You feelin' me. Or like anonymous said, "Ring their Bells! You can do it!
ReplyDeleteI am SO happy this exists and that Lil's cousin is on here. Because YOU can make a difference in her song choice. I looked for chance to speak out in a meaningful supportive way for the same reason Pam - the song IS "Last Chance" - Donna Summer. It lets that dynamic range of Lil's voice shine - this is the kind of "BIG" song she needs to sing and blow the roof off the joint. And I don't think she has any chances left to fall short. PLEASE Pam - do what you can to get her to pick a great song this week!! Or else she'll go the way of Ramiele Malubay last season. My second choices would be "Knock on Wood" by Irene Cara, "Don't Leave Me This Way" by Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes, or "Never Can Say Goodbye" by Gloria Gaynor.
ReplyDeleteNo... Pam I think she wil do great with Last dance/Donna Summer and she can add her twist to it..... start slow... and blow it the f up she has an incredible voice... powerful and strong and who better than Donna Summers songs...
ReplyDeleteWhat about " Caught up in a one night love affair" by inner life with Jocelyn Brown singing lead. I would love to hear lil belt that one out. It is fast paced and it demands a strong voice.
ReplyDeleteAndrew L.
Texas
what about Ring my Bell, by Anita Ward a fellow Memphisian
ReplyDeleteLil I wish you all the best, Lil this is a week that you can blow every other contestant to pieces. Try any of these songs from these artist. Last Dance-Donna Summer, Young hearts Run Free-Candi Staton, Shame-Evelyn Champagne King, Ring My Bell-Anita Ward, I will survive-Gloria Gaynor, Under your spell-Phyllis Hyman, He is the greatest dancer-Sister Sledge or the great Stephanie Mills-What cha gonna do with my lovin or Never knew love like this before. Personally I think you have a Stephanie Mills voice and would knock everyone to their feet for a standing "O". I hope you do Stephanie and I wish you the best.
ReplyDeleteTo correct everyone, Donna Summers song is named Last Dance. I am from that era of music.
ReplyDeleteBut Stephanie Mills song would be different and would blow everyone away.
Hey Everybody! Wow..great suggestions for Disco Week.. Here is one to consider: "I Will Survive" by Gloria Gaynor. This song will show off ALL of her vocals; Check it out: She starts off really slow and deliberate, then rocks it like Gloria Gaynor.. then really slow and deliberate again she kills the end with a heart felt: "I will...(deep breath)..(pause look at the crowd for a second..)..(accapella).....sur-viiiiiiiiiive" she holds the note while she leans back clutching the mic. And keeps that pose while the audience goes crazy! The really great thing about this is that she sends the message with the theme of this song (survival) to all her haters, at the same time securing another round. I think this song would catapult her into top contention. Hey..my second choice: "Love Sensation" -by Loletta Holloway..this would have to be up-tempo'd and although a lot of people never heard the song, it brings back Disco which the crowd will appreciate.
ReplyDeleteAlso check out Gladys singing I will Survive on You Tube...

This is the ending I was talking about!!!
Luv You guys ...
MusicMan
Lil, i like ur voice and i think yes so far it has been wrong song choices. for disco week i suggest any song by Aretha Franklin. it will definetely bring out ur vocals hitting as high....high... as possible.
ReplyDeleteHowa bout
ReplyDeletei will survive by gloria gaynor?
That's a good disco song right?
Lil rounds you rock! A lot of people in canada are voting / rooting for you! Keep it up!
i agree to that..
ReplyDeletei hope you choose "I WILL SURVIVE" by gloria gaynor
i suggest for you to listen to the version of "Charice Pempengco" of this song... this could probably help you...
i want you to stay into the competition, lil!!! prove to them that you can really survive!
my top 3:
1. lil rounds
2. danny gokey
3. adam lambert
i think DISCO night will be lil's shining night!!
ReplyDeletejust be careful of the song choice!!!
and be brave!!! try to show us the highest note that you can ever hit!!!
God Bless you lil!!!!
Lil Arkansas is praying for your sucess. I think you can have your moment with Young Heart Run Free--By Candi Staton or Maurice White's version of Stand By Me. Disco will be your comeback week. Let go and let God!!!!!
ReplyDeleteLil, Simon is provoking you to excellence...Remember Kelly Clarkson and Kerry Underwood? See where they are today? You must revert to your original spunky self and hair style (lose the weaves that age you). Everyone has given you a wealth of suggestions....Donna Summer, Gloria Gaynor, Candi Staton or Stephanie Mills would save you from the bottom. Two people are going this week, so we will be dialing to keep you in to the end. - Your forever fans from Day 1.
ReplyDeleteGOD BE WITH YOU!!!!
Please lil take off your wig and keep it real. And sing something that will both show your vocal and make people move. I loved "the way you make me feel" choose something like that. Again show your vocals and make people dance. I like you and hope that you will at least make it to the top 4
ReplyDeleteTAKE OFF YOUR WIG PLEAASSSSSSEEEEEEEEE
ReplyDelete"I Will Survive" by Gloria Gaynor. Start off really slow and deliberate, then rock it like Gloria Gaynor.. kill the end like Gladys Knight with: "I will...(deep breath)..(pause look at the crowd for a second..now go accapella )..sur-viiiiiiiiiive" hold the note forever while leaning back clutching the mic. End the note but keep that pose while the audience goes crazy! Does anyone see that???
ReplyDeleteGo...LIL...
ReplyDeleteDISCO Week is your shining moment...
You've got our support...
I think Lil would be foolish to bypass Donna Summer's 'Last Chance' and do something more obscure. She's really in tough right now with the way the judges are shaking her down. America has developed a bias towards the black female singer cuz of Frenchy Davis, Fantasia not selling a hoot of records, etc. and when they really got it wrong (Hudson) the contestant went on to get an Oscar and 2 Grammys. Lil, Anoop (East Indian) and the blind fella really don't have legit chances and with 2 peeps going out this week (and no judges save) I suspect Anoop and Lil might be finished. (Lil is toast if she doesn't shine with her disco piece) and probably eliminated even if she burns the floor! I see her with a nice solo career, doing some film work, acting and perhaps being in a back-up role for someone like Beyonce or Mary J. Blige.
ReplyDeleteIf Lil survives (BIG IF) I'd like to see her do a Laverne Baker number, Baker was a great R+B star from the 50s to the early 70s....Lil has a very similar look and sound to Lavern.
ReplyDeleteIn the judges and the voters the top 3 right now are: Adam Lambert, Iraheta and Gokey....
ReplyDeleteImho, the top 3 are: Lambert, Rounds & Desai...
I think the only way Ms. Lil survives this week is if Alison Iraheta completely wrecks her disco song....if Lil does manage to get by this week and Iraheta gets sidelined, then the final might come down to Lambert vs. Rounds.
ReplyDeleteIf Lil is super on the disco and Iraheta is OK I suspect bad news for Lil...
I love to say if lil can sing "One Night Only" from Jennifer Hudsons or the song she sing from the auditions. That is awesome
ReplyDeleteThis iz cuzin Pam again thank you all for the correction of the the song Last Dance! I also thank you all for your comments and your support...cuzin must rock the house tonight!!!!
ReplyDeleteLil, I thought you sang brilliantly tonight!! You have some sort of curse on you, and I do not see what the judges DON'T SEE in you..I hope you can somehow survive another week, you deserve it!! If not, I will see you singing on the Tour! I hope big things become of you after the show! Best of luck Lil!!
ReplyDeleteI have to get this off my chest... LIL was one of my top 5 in the beginning BUT I feel like she is trying to be 'white' I do NOT mean this in a racist way. I just want her to embrace the soul inside of her. Sing some Whitney or Dianna Ross. Also, WTF are they doing to her hair???!!! I liked it the first week they changed it but DAMN I LOOOOVED her edgy hairstyle the most. Too bad, I can't even stand to watch her anymore. :( Whoever was mentoring you sweetie wanted you to go down... and it worked.
ReplyDeleteI don't care what anyone of the idol panel said tonight, I love Lil and I'm obviously not alone. She is an amazing and passionate woman with a voice to match, the studio version of I Surrender blows me away completely. You rocked the house tonight Lil, don't ever believe any different. All your fans were there with you tonight and we loved every minute of your performance.
ReplyDeleteSigned,
A true fan
EVERYBODY MUST VOTE FOR HER!!!
ReplyDeleteSIMON SLAMMED HER PERFORMANCE OF "I'M EVERY WOMAN"
Lil is in danger~~~~
we must vote for her.... huhuhuhu.......
i still hope i can see her in the finals!!!
Lil should listen to the judges and not teh folks around her...Today is 4/22/09 and AGAIN SHE WANTS TO FO HER OWN THING! NO ONE WILL INVESTIN HER IF SHE CONTIUES TO NOT LISTEN! Last night was a disaster!
ReplyDeleteI think you are a great singer.....but that is all...just a great singer!
Sandra she is listening to the judges....she's not doing her own thing! She was great last night! You are not there to know what's going on behind the scene. Think about if she could do what she wanted she would win the show but it's all a game they know what they are looking for and lookin at the show it's not another R&B singer they are looking for a rock star! Trust me someone will invest in her becuz she will not be limited to what she can and cannot do! Also to the person sayin she trying to be white she's being Lil she has always switch up her look she's just not with short hair!! She has been embracing the soul inside of her and they shot that down too...so it's damn if i don't or damn if i do! My cuz will be fine!!! If she could sing those people don't you think she would have everthing she wanted to sing they have said no!!!! Get a grip! Cuzin Pam
ReplyDeleteLil! Please girl! Please Girl! My husband and I are rooting for you! What happened to that Lil we first met? Singing Mary J and showing she is just as good or better than the best??!?!?
ReplyDeleteLast night you had a chance to blow it out. What happened to Cheryl Lynn, Got to be Real - everybody loves Cheryl. What happened to Glady's night? Midnight train, Me & Mrs Jones (change it to an up tempo with a sort of reggae beat) and others. Sorry, I am from Texas, was in the Army traveled the world and now live in the DC suburbs and not everybody loved that song I am every woman (sort of chavinistic). I am married with 6 adult children now and none of my adult kids liked that particular song. Love the artist, hated the song. Put a treatment to every song you sing. Make it different but not too different that we don't recognize it.
Why do you keep singing songs and keep it the same way as the original. Girl change those arrangments. Change the way it is originally written, change the vocals, go down where the singer went up and go up where the singer went down. Up the tempo, lower tthe tempo, something! Remember Gladys and Marvin Gaye both made the same song (heard it through the grapevine) at two different times and they both made that one song a hit. Each had their own version. Lil PLEASE pick a song, put a WOW factor to it and put your own twist. Please! We want to see you win this!
If you make it this week - which I doubt but still hope -- you are going to have to stop wasting time arguing with Simon and get it together. Too many black women like you can sing but don't know how to show your own style and how you will be different than others. We don't need another Beyonce - we got one. We don't need a nother Jennifer - we got one --- we need a NEW one - we need Li. If you don't change it up - you will end up another wanna be that never is. We love you but girl, c'mon, looks like Adam and his strategic methods and focused game plan to win will actually win. But you won't end up as his competitior if you don't change it up. Lastly, tell your family (mom) to stop making ugly faces on National Tv and looking like they are angry-voters don't like that. Tell your family to look gracious at all times. You made it on TV and if you lose it will be because of you, not anyone else. God is giving you an opportunity, use what He gave you. All of you need to realize that this is a blessing and treat it as such. Your family know who God is. No matter what is said, show the joy of the Lord at all times. Lil, please!!! Be creative. You need to still smile even if you don't like what the team is saying. You look angry and voters don't like that. Smile or look humble, don't look angry. I am just trying to help. You can blow girl! Now blow!!!! I voted for you but 3 of my other friends switched to Adam, he is genius and very focused. You can do as well or better. Praying for you,
Shelia in LaPlata
Barring a miracle or a malfunction in the 1-800 system, Lil is toast tonite.... if it were just one elimination she's in tough....two (like tonite) and its a foregone conclusion...and I love Lil
ReplyDeleteHopefully, the diabolical SImnon will stir up a frenzy of anti-Cowell votes for Lil but I really doubt it. Being the 7th spot isn't bad - look what happened to Jennifer Hudson?
Being a Lil fan, I must admit that Lil has set an all-time record for disobeying the judges suggestions for the most number of weeks. No one else comes close....for someone who's lasted this long. WOW!
Like I stated before she really had to knock it out of the ballpark to stay in the game.
Now its a foregone conclusion that Adam Lambert will win this year's thing. Just a huge battle brewing for the runner-up slot.
TOnite - Bott. 3 will no doubt consist of Lil & Anoop (Americans tend to vote against race) and probably either Iraheta or the Justin Timberlake clone....
If lil somehow survives tonight, she just might mount a comeback, enough to pull a runner-up position vs. Adam.
Out, Northern Seacrest
Let me start by saying, Lil, I am one of your biggest fans and have been from day one! It is truly unfortunate that you have a hard time taking criticism, as you will notice the persons who are humble are doing well. I hope you see this Lil...I believe that you have a wonderful voice, but you have to listen to what the judges are telling you...you cannot keep choosing the songs that do absolutely nothing for you. "I'm every woman!" Come On! That song wasn't that great when it was a hit...you chose to sing a song that had a lot of noise when it was originally done, the reason for all of the music is because Chaka Kahn is a screamer...I know I will get gigged for that Chaka Kahn comment; however, you have a rich voice that quiet music will suit you better you need BIG SONGS...like Maria Carey's Hero or Yolanda Adams "What About the Children" or Whitney Houston's "The Greatest Love of All" I am not saying those songs but songs of that caliber. "What's Love Got To Do With It" it was great when they stopped playing that on the radio because it was good for Tina Turner's comeback and it had a meaning for her that we could all understand. For you to sing it, the song just fell flat because it doesn't mean anything anymore, we have all gotten over Ike. Find a song that will pull out of your belly that old person who did not let the pressures of the competition get to her. You are compromising and trying to please everyone and have lost yourself. Being on your defense will get you eliminated... giving your opinion to Simon and the other judges WILL GET YOU ELIMINATED. Your mother's face was terrible and that wins you no points from your fans...you come across as sore losers...you are giving them the ammunition they need to get you off the show...they (the judges) have a huge influence on the audience...they know what they want...you have not arrived yet... you have no fans yet... you cannot say it is up to your fans... because before you came along they were fans of the show, of the judges of the network, of Ryan, the lights, the stage the show...not of Lil Rounds...no one knew who you were... they will still be fans of the show long after you are gone, but right now you need to make it so that you separate from that and allow the people to fall in love with you...the kind of love that will last beyond American Idol...You got it twisted and I pray that you will let that wall down and humble yourself...say thank you for the comments and KEEP YOUR MOUTH SHUT! You can ruin your entire career by showing the world that no one can tell you anything, and you have all the answers...I know I probably sound hostile, but I am so frustrated that you are taking the bait and giving them what they need to get you eliminated...come on Lil...you can't see through the smoke and mirrors?!?! I hope you make it to the next round, Lil there are people on the show who don't sing nearly as well as you, you have let them intimidate you and but they have figured out how to play the game! You gotta find out how to play the game...if not, you will be out of the game. Cuzin Pam...we understand the game and we are trying to help her realize that she is a pawn in a very sinister game, but showing a breakdown in her character is not the way to play the game...find that song that will rock the socks off America...that boy with the black hair...I think it is Adam...come on...he doesn't sing, he screams...SCREAMS the songs and to me Disco night was a mess for him, but that is who they have set their sights on to win and you are making it easy for them...I have been watching Idol since the first season and the judges can tremendously sway the audience....COME BACK LIL.....COME BACK!!!! WE LOVE AND MISS YOU!
ReplyDeleteNECHELLE!
I thought it would be Lil, Adam and Danny in the final three. But Lil has blown it week after week by making terrible song choices. I like to call it the Ramiele Malubay effect - incredible talent that is hidden by bad descisions. Such is the real world of recording artists. Lil could have picked a Donna Summers song that is in her range - that let her stretch out her voice - but instead kept picking short, staccato-type delivery - something she flopped with on weeks ago on her first attempt - yet she just kept doing the same things week after week. Lil was my favorite contestant and it hurts me to say she'll be going home tonight. I can only hope that she actually learns to take advice from others, drop the ego, and LEARN from her mistakes or else what could still be a promising career may be halted by the very bad descision making she has displayed in this contest.
ReplyDeleteIts rather obvious that Lil (or Little) is going home tonight. She is a terrible recipient of well-meaning advice. Had she chosen a Lavern Baker song or Donna Summer's LAST CHANCE she'd still have a shot. Unfortunately, tonight its only a choice of whether Lil gets the first ax or the second!
ReplyDeleteCowell, out!
Everyone is so quick to stay do this do that! I suggested Donna Summers Last Dance-chance it wasn't on the list of songs that she could sing!!!!! She's been taking there advice from day one and no matter what she does it not right! What if is was ur daughter up there and you know how they are doing the show and they give your kid that type of feed back every time my aunt and uncle are stll human...and america still loves her she has the highes votes out everyone! And like i posted earlier if she could sing the songs we know and she knows and goes better with her voice don't you think she would do that! Think about it! I'm done it is what is!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteDTS says...............
ReplyDeleteWhat is going on with the judges and Lil Rounds? I have watched every week and each week since the final 13 the judges have tried everything they can to get the American public to not vote for Lil Rounds. She has changed her style based on what they have been telling her. Each week they tell her to change her style and she follows their instructions only to be told that she is not good enough. It is quite clear that the judges are favoring the screaming and hollering of Adam Lambert and the rocker style of Allison Iraheta. Even though the public votes for the contestants, the judges play a huge part in convincing the vote. This plan could even be seen by Stevie Wonder or Ray Charles because it is so blatant. Fox, American Idol and the judges want either Adam Lambert or Allison Iraheta to win. These two can do nothing wrong. Lil Rounds has a better voice, stage presence and command of her voice than both of these contestants. This is one of the oldest tricks in the book. It is to keep telling me I need to improve. I do what you tell me to do, but it is still not good enough. The judges and Fox's hope is that, Lil will be frustrated to the point where she has the total melt down performance. Perhaps Simon and Paula should stop playing so much and pay more attention to the performances. Ever notice that when everyone else has an off night the panel of judges has something positive to say about the contestants performance. The fix is on for this season. Hold your head up Lil because you are truly the best singer but just not the one Fox wants for the American Idol. We are very proud of you. Keep up the good work and wait for the contract offers. You are the best and you are the true American Idol.
DTS beautifully said...I agree with you totally! :)
ReplyDeleteOnly she hasn't changed her style and she hasn't listened to one thing the judges have said (even the techy judges like Kara and Randy).... so she's putting her future in the hands of the voters. If they go ANTI-COWELL she may survive for another week.
ReplyDeleteBut I wouldn't put serious coin on it!!!
When I first saw (and heard) Lil I saw a unique R & B artist in the mould of Laverne Baker, Billie Holiday or even Little Eva.... but she's gone far too modern and straight with her great voice and stage prescence, not quite the presence of Lambert or Iraheta but far better looking and more mature. However, Idol doesn't but maturity or great looks (other than the debacles with Rube & The Gray Elvis - Taylor Hicks)....
ReplyDeleteThe Gray Elvis, Taylor Hicks !!! lol
ReplyDeleteIts all good!!! Lil, everything happens for a reason and even though u were eliminated....WE STILL GONE SEE YOU FOR MANY MORE LIL ROUNDS!!!...Peace and love to you!!!
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by a blog administrator.
ReplyDeletehi lil rounds i cried for 15 min when you got voted off...you where my favorite contestant sorry you got eliminated.
ReplyDeleteJenna,Age 9
Hi!
ReplyDelete51 years old from NY,
With Lil gone this shows now has no interest to me at all. While Lil maybe not the best but dam near close she was the only one that was the real deal. Just for the record when Lil put’s out that first song I’ll be opening my wallet to support her. Hold that head high Lil and &#$% Simon.
Lil will no doubt be a favorite on the talk show circuit (Leno. Letterman, Ellen, Oprah, Jimmy Fallon, Kimmel, etc.) and she'll get a huge new following from doing those shows.
ReplyDeleteNow, if she could only get a discernable sound (like Mary J. or even Alecia Keys, that would catapault her into the charts).... of course, she has to do the American Idol tour of 10 first...
I thought it was rather interesting (some will find it totally classless) as to how Seacrest dropped the ax on Lil last night. Just took her to the bottom 3 feeding area and knocked her out on the spot. Anyone else have comments about that?
ReplyDeleteSandra is that you....
ReplyDelete
