What did you think of Lil's performance last night?
Motown should have been the night for Lil to shine. Her heart led her to do a tribute to the stars that paved the way, but the song didn't let her vocals soar. There is no doubt Lil can really sing, but do you think she could've chosen a better song for last night's occasion?

I was hoping Lil would have sang a Gladys Knight song; almost any Gladys' song(If I were your Woman; Heard it thru the Grapevine; Mid Nite Train ............) would have closed the competition!!! Everyone else would have been striving for 2nd Place!!!
ReplyDeleteI have always considered myself a motpwn person but I never heard that song till Lil sang it. Now I can't get it out of my head. I was blown away Lil. I still can't reconcile the judges remarks to the song. Lil was powerful and that dress...WOW
ReplyDeleteLil can sing and has a wide range of vocal ability. Wow! I just love Lil and please keep up the great singing.
ReplyDeleteLil,you are exceptional singer with great potential. However, as a fellow singer, I would
ReplyDeletestrongly advise you to seek the assistance of
American Idol's vocal coach Debra Byrd (who is an awesome singer in her own right!)in choosing
your songs for the competition. You don't necessarily have to have a personal connection with the song as long as it showcases your vocal ability. My prayer is that you will make it to the finals!
That was my mother's favorite song before she passed in 84' she sung it while she was cleaning the house. I said to myself, Lil Rounds could do that song and just tear it up. Mrs. Rounds you bought tears to my eyes, because I suggested the song, you sung it, and you delivered. Thank you, we did have our moment
ReplyDeleteShe is the best vocalist that I have ever heard on American Idol, but if she is going to win this thing, then she is going to need help with her song selection. Country week she could have blown the roof off with a song like Shania Twain, Man! I Feel Like Women! And last week there were at least 5 or 6 songs she could have killed with (Midnight train to Georgia would have been my first choice).
ReplyDeleteLil needs to try a song by Javeta Steele, it could really keep her in the competition as it winds down. The song is Baghdad Cafe of course. If she nails it it could save her and no one has ever done as far as i know. Good luck Lil from John in Nova Scotia.
ReplyDeleteSorry, the song is called "Calling You" from the movie Baghdad Cafe
ReplyDeleteMusicman1685: Trying to put my finger on it. Lil Rounds..when you choose a song, whatever it is...study the lyrics and become the song. Read it like a book put yourself in the place where the writer is talking about. This is the magic that draws the audience into a song. Also, loose the wigs and show us that short style...you've got the looks already, so don't try to make a statement with anything other than your voice and your heart. The magic will happen. Luv you Lil.
ReplyDeleteI find the judges, especially Randy Jackson to be complete jerks. I don't even want to watch the show any more. How can they be so cruel and rude to Lil Rounds? she was amazing tonight and bashed her once again. Talked about sucking the life out of her and they are the ones doing it to her. Can she do anything right in their eyes. I don't want her to lose her spirit and was not happy to see her cry today, 3/31/09. Lil was spectacular once again , and others have done way worse than her, esp. 2 weeks ago. Sorry Lil.
ReplyDeleteI think that her singing that song was wonderful...I dont think she was shouting as Kara said...On the other hand, as good as it was, if she would have sang I Heard It Through The Grapevine she would have stopped the show....and caused everyone else to scratch their heads...but she still did a very good job on Heatwave...! Love u Lil!!!!!
ReplyDeleteLil...snap out of it girlfriend. Why do you appear so arrogant when the judges give you advice....?? you continue to choose the wrong songs...dress as if you are 50 years old....Your favorite line after the judges give you advice "Well I had fun and the audice seemed to like it"....NO...the audience claps for everyone...LOL and "having fun" "ain't getting it"...We almost hoped that you would end up in the bottom so that it could snap your butt out of it this "I'm goona do my own thing and screw ya'll" attitude! Honey...you have a beautiful family...do it for the kids...do you know what this would entail for your children? I would hate ot have to tell my kids "Sorry we all missed out because I wanted to do my own thing"...and if you think a producer will pick you up....think about this....who will pick you up as an artist if you fail to follow advice and directions....you will be considered a waste of time and money!
ReplyDeleteI agree that she has incredible vocals and I'm surprised at some of the feeback since her voice is much more appealing to me than most of the guys (save Adam...).
ReplyDeleteI know they want some sort of "new" approach and ONE IDEA is to do what Lateesha and Jordan Sparks did which is to take a famous MAN"S song and just by singing a different gender, their approach HAS to be different. No more songs by other FAMOUS WOMEN...too hard to be different and yet "true" to the music and it's too vague to figure out what Simon wants...Just an idea. Sing a famous Man's ballad Lil and go for it. WE are rooting for you baby!! (And ignore the weirdon hate speech here by people who have NOTHING good in their lives...sheesh...)
PS I'm referring to the Bon Jovi songs that I ended up BUYING b/c of Lateesha's version of "This Ain't A Love Song" and it happened with a few others. So FIND A MAN'S SONG, MAYBE A FAST ONE YOU CAN SLOW DOWN AND SHOW YOUR WONDERFUL RANGE & ARTISTRY... and go for it Lil!! We're a bunch of moms out here, and we are SOOOO pulling for you sweetie! You are a class act, and God Bless You!
ReplyDeleteWHY AREN'T THE HATEFUL COMMENTS REMOVED FROM HERE? THEY'RE IDIOTIC, CRUEL AND IRREVELANT TO THE PURPOSE OF THIS SITE. I AM SURE THEY VIOLATE THE RULES OF THE FORUM.
ReplyDeleteSO, Dear HATEFUL "ANONYMOUS"...(ie., "NAMELESS COWARD") GO SOMEWHERE ELSE TO VENT YOUR HATE...You are NOT wanted here....but maybe that's why you hate so much, b/c NO ONE WANTS YOU...That's because GOOD PEOPLE with real lives, and people and love in their lives, DON'T WRITE THE TRIPE YOU WRITE..it's poison to YOU more than anyone else...how's it helping YOUR life to be this way? Everything just great??? Yeah, keep telling yourself that and may GOD HAVE MERCY ON YOU and stop your poison.
lets not be mean but she should of been kicked off this last time.... Matt should of not been booted off... deep in her heart Lil knew she need to be gone. Girl can sing but she is not a good performer...
ReplyDeleteI don't care what anyone of the idol panel said tonight, I love Lil and I'm obviously not alone. She is an amazing and passionate woman with a voice to match, the studio version of I Surrender blows me away completely. You rocked the house tonight Lil, don't ever believe any different. All your fans were there with you tonight and we loved every minute of your performance.
ReplyDeleteSigned,
A true fan
thank God lil is fianlly off idol.the problem with her was that she could sing but had no identity. she is someone that can sing but as far as being unique and memorable lil is not. From the beginning and throughout her run on the show she was "ALL OVER THE PLACE" FROM HER CLOTHES,MAKEUP,HAIR,NOT TO MENTION HER SONG CHOICES. I think in lil's attitude about idol was, as long as i go out there and sing(or imitate) the original i will win. well, that may have been true for the first few seasons, but its a "whole new ballgame now". in addition lil seemed cocky to me. whenever she was given advise she talked back like she knew better than the pros. well, lil if you know better, how come you aren't already a star?and lil i know it was a while ago, but what was with that outfit you wore on the first week of the competition??? do yourself a favor and burn that thing. see lil, about being unique, that outfit was about the most memorable the most thing about you.i don't know how she could watch the performances of the other contestents and not realize that she had to find her own nitch, originality.she was run of the mill. sorry honey.some advice......drop the attitude, listen and learn. just because your family tells you that you can sing, doesn't make you a star. HUMBLE YOURSELF!!!!! AND BURN THAT OUTFIT!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI dont know what would make a perso leave hateful comments like that either. However i do know that this is a free country and everyone is entitled to their opinion.
ReplyDeleteIm personally glad Lil is gone she needed to go a long time ago. She might me able to sing but she certainly is not a performer let alone idol(star)
Think about her interview in the very begining where she stated she wanted to be the idol to look after her family. While that may be admirable the winner needs to have Adams attitude where he wants to win to be a star.
Glad Lils gone and to her Id suggest she go get an education and take care of her family that way.
